Relationship Therapy & Couples Counselling

Relationships are at the heart of our wellbeing, yet they can also be our greatest source of stress and confusion. Whether you’re navigating a specific crisis or simply want to strengthen your connection, Relationship Therapy & Couples Counselling provides a safe space to explore patterns, improve communication, and work towards the relationship you both want.

How I Can Help

I work primarily with couples in romantic relationships, though my training and experience also extend to other important relationships such as parent-adult child dynamics and close friendships. My approach combines professional expertise with a deep understanding of how relationships work – and sometimes don’t work – drawing from both my therapeutic training and seven years of running therapy groups where I developed essential skills in mediation and facilitating effective communication between people.

Common Relationship Issues I Work With:

  • Communication breakdowns – learning to really hear each other and express needs effectively
  • Frequent arguments and disagreements – understanding the patterns underneath conflict and finding better ways to resolve differences
  • Trust and infidelity recovery – helping couples decide whether to rebuild together and, if so, how to move forward
  • Intimacy concerns – reconnecting emotionally and physically in meaningful ways
  • Life transitions – navigating changes that affect your relationship dynamic
  • Conflict resolution – developing healthier ways to handle disagreements
  • Relationship patterns – understanding and changing unhelpful cycles you find yourselves stuck in
  • Family dynamics – working through complex parent-child relationships or extended family issues
  • Friendship difficulties – navigating challenges in important non-romantic relationships

My Approach to Relationship Therapy

Drawing from my integrative training in CBT, Person-Centred, Existential, and Psychodynamic approaches, plus additional training in DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and ACT, I tailor my approach to what works best for your relationship dynamic. I have completed specialised workshops, including training with renowned relationship expert Dr Tammy Nelson, to deepen my understanding of relationship patterns and recovery.

My role is part mediator, part translator, and part guide. Having facilitated therapy groups for more than seven years, I have developed particular skills in helping people communicate effectively whilst guarding against miscommunication and unhelpful interactions that can escalate conflict rather than resolve it.

The goal is not to eliminate all disagreements – healthy relationships involve conflict. Instead, we work on helping you understand each other better, communicate more effectively, and navigate challenges in ways that strengthen rather than damage your connection.

How Relationship Therapy Works

Joint Sessions

Most relationship therapy involves seeing you together, creating a neutral space where both perspectives can be heard and understood. This allows me to observe your communication patterns directly and help you practice new ways of connecting in real-time.

Individual Sessions

Sometimes individual sessions are valuable as part of the overall relationship work. This might help explore personal patterns, process difficult emotions, or work through individual barriers to relationship growth.

Flexible Approach

Every relationship is different, so we’ll adapt the approach based on what works best for you. Some couples benefit from regular weekly sessions, whilst others prefer intensive work followed by maintenance sessions.

What to Expect from Relationship Therapy

Relationship therapy can feel vulnerable – you are sharing intimate details about your connection with someone new. I create a safe, non-judgmental environment where both partners feel heard and respected, regardless of the issues you’re facing.
Early sessions often focus on understanding your relationship patterns and what brought you to therapy. We’ll explore how you communicate, handle conflict, and what each of you needs to feel secure and valued in the relationship.
As we progress, you’ll develop new tools for communication, conflict resolution, and emotional connection. Many couples find that having dedicated time to focus solely on their relationship – without the distractions of daily life – allows them to rediscover what drew them together in the first place.

Getting Started with Relationship Therapy

Beginning relationship therapy is a step that shows commitment to your relationship’s growth.

I offer a free 10-15 minute introductory call where we can:

  • Discuss what you’re both hoping to achieve
  • Explore whether my approach feels right for your situation
  • Answer questions about the therapeutic process
  • Determine if we can build the trust necessary for effective relationship work

Ideally, both partners participate in this initial call, though this can be flexible depending on timing and circumstances.

Ready to Strengthen Your Relationship?

Whether you’re in crisis or simply want to build a stronger foundation, relationship therapy can help you understand each other better and develop the tools for lasting connection.

To book your free introductory call or ask any questions, either partner can contact me:
Phone: +447585119298
Email: [email protected]

Or both partners can reach out together – whatever feels most comfortable for your situation.

I typically respond to enquiries within 24 hours and am happy to answer any questions about how relationship therapy works or whether it might benefit your specific situation.

Healthy relationships require ongoing attention and care. Relationship therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken – it’s about strengthening what’s valuable and building the connection you both deserve.
